Foam that does more than one job

Not every foam product fits neatly into a mattress or pillow range. A sofa cum bed has to be comfortable to sit on all evening and to sleep on all night, which is a harder brief than either one alone — the foam has to hold its shape under a seated load and still give enough when you lie down. We make these at the same Boranada factory, from the same BIS-compliant high-resilience foam as our mattresses.

Who these suit

• Small apartments — a sofa cum bed replaces a sofa that would otherwise sit unused during the day and gives you a spare bed at night.
• Guest rooms that double as studies — you get a bed when it is needed without giving up the room the rest of the year.
• Not for daily main-bed use — if someone will sleep on it every night, a proper mattress will be kinder to their back. Honest answer: buy a mattress instead.
